OK... This is my first attempt on creating a video!!
Has been too much fun, and I am planning on doing a series of different videos from mow on!! I am not planning to become a videographer, but a video producer!! Hahaha. At least a guy who creates some videos !!

Bike trip into the South-Eastern Utah

OK, Here it is!!!
I am posting my trip into Canyonlands National Park, Moab, UT I did last week.
It turned out the day was to be be rainy!!! But even though we knew it, we went ahead and did go down to our destination for our Friday-Saturday adventure.

Let me tell you: It was surreal!!! It was PERFECT !!!!!!! Muddy, Windy, Cold, Wet everywhere!!, and exhaustingly beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!

It rain the entire night into Saturday, and then it kept raining until noon (or so). We start our bike ride at 9 am. and kept going until 1 pm. when we decide to go back to camp 1 (where the car was waiting for us). Going uphill took us 4 hours what going down hill took us 1.5 hours.

UPCOMING CYCLING TRIPS (Information):

White Rim Trail, Canyonlands(UT) : November 04th & 05th 2011:

The Plan: Going to Moab, UT and mountain bike the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands National Park for one day. The idea is to feel the terrain first and then (most likely for Spring 2012) ride the entire trail, which could take as long as 4 days.

I know that getting down there (from where we live) for just one day of riding experience could be somehow expensive, but we don't want to plan a long bike trip and in the middle of it realize we were in bad shape! or we didn't have enough food! D' u' know what I mean?

We are traveling from our home-town on Friday afternoon and gettting into Moab early at night. After a good night sleep (most likely will be camping somewhere in the desert) we will take a proteinic breakfast (most likely a couple of energy bars and gatorade) and hit the dirt road into the White Rim Trail . . . The plans, so far, goes 'til there!. We are hoping to make it back sometime in the afternoon of that same Saturday and create a vocal report: what is additionally needed for a longer trip, how much more training do we need for the whole 4 days ride, etc. etc.

EQUIPMENT :
1.- A small back pack to carry food and equipment while riding the bike: tools, 2 tube replacements, air pump, food, water, snacks and toilet paper.
2.- Clothing: padded shorts, 1 short sleeved t-shirt, 1 long sleeved t-shirt, a rain jacket (just in case is too cold), sweatpants (just in case is too cold).
3.- Food: Enough to keep me alive for the trip.

Cycling in Ogden, UT

This are the XTerra games in Snowbasin, UT and the Road Speed Race in Ogden,UT (Harvest Moon Festival) this last Saturday, September 24th 2011.

I had the blessing to be part of these events and to have Lance Armstrong (a professional world-wide re-known cyclist, 6 consecutive times winner on the Tour of France among other races) as one of the celebrities I took his photograph while racing!! (as a matter of fact he is the first photograph in the blog).

I am posting some of these photographs for you to comment on.

OSOS in Bearland

Well, here I am, once again, posting some of the latest activities and showing some of my latest photographs... I am particularly excited about this one, because is different on it's nature.

The adventure I was on this last week was a different one than my usual adventures. A couple, friends of mine, artists (one is a photographer and the other is a painter with a background knowledge in photography), and I went north to get some unique photographs, photographs that she, Tiffanie, can use for her paintings; they were looking for new photographs of bears, both Grizzly and Black bears.

We went to the well known parks "The Grand Teton National Park" and "Yellowstone National Park", both in Wyoming. My friends, Bryan and Tiffanie, knew exactly where to go, what time of the year bears are more visible, etc. So as we went, we start finding them.

For now will suffice to say we had a great time! In more than a one occasion we were really close to them, but never in real danger. Looking back (specially because nothing bad happened), I am glad we did it!

I am posting some of the photographs I took during this "out-of-ordinary" excursion. I hope you like them and please don't forget to tell me your comments at the bottom of this very same post.

Saint George - part II

The real reason why I when down to Saint George, UT. this last Mon-Wed. was to meet a couple, who are my customers, Woody and Rachel, and take their Engagement session.

After one or two seconds meeting them both, I realize how great couple they are and how much in-love they are... They are actually meant for each other !!

For the session we went to a couple of different areas; needless to say that the session was phenomenal!!.

I am posting a couple of portraits from their engagement session... well, more than a couple.

Saint George, UT - part I

This last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I took a trip down to Saint George, UT, where I had a meeting with two customers to do their sessions... Let me tell you, it was beautiful and I will post some of those photographs later on.
I took this opportunity and took my family with me and we had such a GREAT time !!
I am posting some photographs we took along the way and down there.
I'll caption every photo (or at least the ones I have time to caption) so you know what's going on.
Here they come:

Photo 1 (below): All my girls at "Lava Rock" up in Red Mountain SPA Resort in Saint George, UT... it was cool to see all this real LAVA !!!
Photo 2 (below): Taking a little break from the southern Utah heat !! It was COOL !!! and the water perfect !!!

Photo 3 (below): Having a snack !! He he he, it looks like lunch to me. We are inside the trailer having a little bit of a family time.

Photo 4 (below): A wild flower along the road. This photograph was taken by "Pintura" a town in the middle of the desert where we spent one of the nights and I took the opportunity to ride my bike for over an hour.

Photo 5 (below): The red rock by "Pintura" (read prior photo's caption to get more info). I love riding my bike anywhere I go... especially in exotic or different locations such as this one.

Photo 6 (below): We are in the winter home of Brigham Young (second prophet and President of our church). This house dates from the late 1800's. It was cool to see it again. A neat experience for my entire family (they haven't been inside this house before).

Photo 7 (below): We are at the outside stairs in the Saint George Temple... It was great to be around the Temple with my family.

Photo 8 (below): This is part of the first night... I spent close to 6 hours of the night taking photographs, such as this one, while my entire family was sleeping in the trailer.
We were in Zion's National Park where the "Milky Way" is perfectly visible. It was a breath-taking experience for me being able to take this particular photograph.

Photo 9 (below): This is at Kolob Canyon at Sunset with my beautiful family... What a great view of my family with that great background right behind us.

Photo 10 (below): Another view of the Kolob Canyon Red Cliffs, this time with a dead tree branch lighted by the dying sun on it's tip.

Photo 12 (below): A wide angled view of my 5 trekkers with the red cliffs of Kolob Canyon. We took a one hour hike as family and it was a blast!!. My children (the four of them) ran and had a great time (needless to say, they slept pretty good that night !!)

Photo 14 (below): This photo has been taken as we were wading our way up to Kolob Canyon inside Zion's National Park. The way was pretty steep (not shown in the photo) but fun and beautiful.

Photo 17 (below): This is the wide view of Kolob Canyon at Sunset. The day was gorgeous and the temperature of the day was 65 °F... any better? I don't think so.

Photo 18 (below): One more family portrait... this time along the road, while we were going up to Kolob Canyon. The last time we took a photograph in this location was when Andreita and Garielita were 11 months old!!

Well, that's it! Those were some of the photographs I took of my family during this quick trip to Southern Utah. Now, don't get me wrong! I always have as much fun as any of my family member by playing, running, riding bikes, hiking, etc. etc. I don't bug my family with "photos" everywhere... though they enjoy it too... believe me, they LIKE IT !!

Launching a new web-site -part 1

Well, here are some exciting news!!

We are going to launch our new web-site, a sister web-site to our current www.aa-photography.com The site's name is nothing less that www.alvaroaguayo.com.

This new site will be dedicated to nature, adventure and how to live life outdoors. This is not a money making site but a place where people who like photography can see some of Utah's nicest places through our galleries.

Later on, we will develop some links that will give information for walking trails, mountain biking, road cycling, and other outdoor venues for people to enjoy.

So far, this is the screen shot of the site. The name of the links are going to change, but the whole concept is the same.

Photographer or Videographer?

Good morning to all bloggers... (or afternoon or night... depending on the time you are reading this post). A thought has been buzzing my mind for the last couple of weeks, and now I want to share it with all of you... so sorry folks but there are no photographs today... just thoughts!!

In these last 10 or 12 months the industry of photography has been benefited by the addition of video capabilities included now in the DSLR cameras. I do like the merge because I found myself in some situations where I wish to have a video camera additionally to my still-camera; such situations were more like having a good time instead of trying make more $$$ (for example last summer vacation trip where one of my daughters fell into the water, and I wanted to capture her laughter and the reaction of the entire family( and even though I did take photographs and they turned out beautiful), or when my family and I went to hike up into the Wasatch Mountains and I wanted to video record it to show my mother later-on, but I didn't bring my video camera with me).

Said that, I want now to focus on the reason why I went into photography: it's simple, I love the artistic points of views, and not merely showing the facts. I love the interpretations I give to my own photographs, and I love to hear (or read) the interpretations other people have of my photographs as well.

I understand that the reasons why other people goes in photography are different than mine and theirs are as valid as mine; therefore, what I am about to say is just my own personal point of view of my decisions. I have decided that I WILL NOT DO or add videography in my company as part of my own personal business and craft, because I am not making money for the sake of it or the gain of it, but because I LOVE photography.

Videography is a different form of art, it has a different approach and a much different workflow. I confess publicly that I like videography if I would do it as a full time and dedicate my 100% time into it and create artistic documentaries, such as I have never seen before. If were to be a videographer, I would like to become a director or the same and most likely the camera man as well; but I am not ready to make that jump, at least yet.

I don't want to make myself a mess by jumping into both worlds at the same time, and forcing myself, later on, to hire a second person to do my artistic stills or my artistic videos... I know it's going to be too much if I do it now.

My customers hire me for my interesting points of view and the high quality results of my photography (as far as I had heard them say directly to me). And I know (or at least I kind of wish I could do great movies and great videos, but that monster will be chewed and mastered little by little; and who knows, may be later on I make a full jump or add it into my baggage of knowledge and great experiences.

I don't like saying NO to knowledge, so I will and I am not saying not to videography using my DSLR, but what I am saying is NOT NOW!... maybe later doing a full jump into that type of art.

Kayaker

This morning, while I was riding my bike (going to my studio for another day on my job) I happen to pass by the Weber River and found there a kayaker... We chat for a little bit and he allowed me to get some photographs of him while he was on the river.

He seemed to have a GREAT TIME in the water, and me as well taking some cool photographs. I hope to see him around the river to get even more photographs.

Oh!, by the way, the riding on my bike was a pretty smooth one!! :)

Flooding in Weber River

Well, this morning I thought to place some photographs that I took yesterday morning (at about 9 am.).

I've got the idea of using 10 minutes of my schedule and take some photographs of the Weber river in Ogden, while I was going to my studio... and these are some of the photographs I took.
I don't know why, but, when I was taking them (and walking around the area) I thought to see the place in Black and White.. so I did turned my photographs in B&W in post-production.

Several Sessions

As you could of notice, I am bad posting news periodically (for sure not daily or even weekly) ... but, as you know, as well, here and there I post bunches of photographs, and that's what I am doing today.

Here is the latest news in the Studio: Our new Web site is up and running !!!
We are exciting about it, because it features new things and a brand new "model". Let me explain:
- Some of those new "things" I mentioned previously are:
1) "Store" (which is still under construction) where I am going to offer books, and other products such "Fine Art Prints" to customers and on-line shoppers.
2) "APW" which stands for "Adventure Photography Workshops". This is a new Sub-Company where we are going to offer instruction to Amateurs, Middle and even Advanced Professionals in the field of photography, lighting, posing, post-production, etc. etc.

These and other parts of this new site are up for you to surf and explore.
I'll be posting photos and videos as well of what I am doing and how I am doing some things around here.

OK, here goes an interesting new adventure: In 2011 I'm launching my New Brand and Company : "ALVARO AGUAYO Photography"

This is a decision we have taken after much conversations and pondering.
We know that the pronunciation and spelling of the new company's name might be a factor for many to be disappointed, but we felt that is the right thing to do... and guess what, we will do it!
From now on my customers will be able to "connect" my face with my company, and recognize me more for what I do.

For what it is with JUNCTION Photography, is in business inside the Newgate Mall in Ogden, UT and will be for as long as we can.

And for AA PROFESSIONAL Photography, well, it will end up being absorbed by ALVARO AGUAYO Photography and they both will become one company; one company that will deliver the SUPER HIGH QUALITY Photography and great Customer Service that has been our characteristic for so many years.

We will be delivering our great and superb imagery for all Weddings, Portraits, Fine Arts and now Commercial-Industrial customers.

We have a renewed energy, equipment, more and exciting trainings, and we will be sharing so many tips, classes, workshops, etc. etc. with many.

Things has changed !!!

I am happy to announce that Some changes had happened in the studio since the last post:
1- My business partner quit !! So the studio is run by my and some great people, like: Silvia, Robin and Rita.
2.- We a re bringing back AA PROFESSIONAL Photography to stay !!! JUNCTION Photography will remain being in the mall and function as the normal studio in the mall, while AA Pro Photo will be the "on-location studio" and we will cover weddings and events all over the world.
3.- You have no idea how many blessings I've received from my dear wife, Silvia; she is amazing and I am incredibly in debt to her for all the time, help, support, ideas, etc. etc. that she has given me in these last months, for the studio.
I will not post photographs of the studio at this time, but a little bit later.

Hello everyone !!
I am back !!
I have not been able to post anything because I've changed my studio's name... can you believe it? It has been a roller coaster experience !!!

"AA PROFESSIONAL Photography" is now "JUNCTION Photography"

AND I AM inside "The NewGate Mall" in Ogden !!!!!!!

Let me share some photographs from it so you can see it as well.

As I am telling you, the experience could of been easier, but I made a couple of bad choices and now I am almost on my feet again.
I will ask for every one's support in this new adventure !!!

It promises to be a great one ... just imagine: a show at the end of a Recession era!! I bet there are going to be SUPER deals for the Brides and their families.

Well, Hi to all. I want to start off by saying that I've been SUPER blessed from my Father in Heaven, since day one; I recognize that His hand had been with me through my entire career, not just IN the hard times but BECAUSE of those hard days.
My family is growing and I have the love of ALL of them. My live is good and I can't complaint at all, and my career is good (I won't complaint) : )

Historical trip to Saint George

This last weekend I went on a trip to southern Utah; I went with a really great friend of mine, Antonio Neyra, to get some photographs of the Saint George Temple, Visitor Center, Tabernacle, and other Church-historical areas around.

Well, let me tell you, this trip was sensational. We had a really good time and (I think) we got pretty good images after all.

My camera got damaged a bit, but I think that was part of the adventure (lucky me I didn't get damaged or hurt).

After the whole trip, we passed by Zion National Park (where we did a tiny but nice hike) and after that, we went to Bryce Canyon National Park as well (both in one day... from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm). We did those pretty fast, though, relaxed and having fun.

Zion Nat'l Park - Part II

When I did the see the complete pool of photos I HAD to make a "cold selection" and not choose many of my images, though I liked them.

The photographs that I am presenting here today are some of the ones I'm planning to present in my exhibit in New Jersey in a digital display.

Beside I am going to present my new book as well... yeap, the one I am doing since early July and I'm still in the second half of it (I hope there is enough time to finish everything up by March 2010... do you think?).

Zion Nat'l Park - Part I

In a fast trip I went and came back to and from Zion National Park in Utah... and let me tell you, it was amazing!!. As always Zion N.P. is a breath taking experience and I enjoy being there in the solitude of some of the areas. This time of the year present additional benefits, which some of them are: the falling changing-colors leaves, the few amount of people walking around (which is great for the composition of the photographs) and the cooler weather, that allows you to walk further without sweating as much.

I had a marvelous experience walking in the park, and as you will see in the photographs below what I've done, those are not even the 100th part of what I've taken and done.
Enjoy these eight photographs and comment on those ones.

I am preparing the better ones (which I have not posted yet, but later) for an exhibit in New Jersey in the beginning of next year's March. I need to have the experience and I feel is going to be good... really good!.

A new Group of sessions..!!

Here I am again; posting something new in my blog.
I've been blessed in the last month or so with a group of blessings that I want to share with you.

1.- I haven't lost my studio... the Hotel where my studio is, after the leak and the disaster there, asked me to stay longer and not to move out (as I told them I will); they want to work with me with the insurance and cover all the damages... I accepted and now I am staying, at least for some time. (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, review 2 or 3 post before this one, and you'll see)
2.- In my stake I've been called as the new Stake Young Men President in the LDS church. I love working with youth and give my "2 cents" back. I have been working in the Presidency for the last 5 years and now I am able to keep working as hard as possible.
3.- Now, in my studio, I've been working hard in the last 3 or 4 weeks with customers who had requested fall season photographs both in the studio and on location. Quite a bit of children sessions and some family portraits as well; and let me tell you... it had been super fun.

I want now to post some of the images I've been taking for you to see, ok? I hope you like them all and comment with me what you think about them.

This is Gabriela Suarez, she and Alex, her husband are great friends of ours. We had a really good time in the 2 hours session we had and I had too much fun (I hope she did as well). Thanks Gabriela for your time and energy.

Here is Diana, my friend from Colombia, in her Wedding gown, getting her Bridal photographs taken... I do believe (as well as her) that these photographs turned out pretty good, but What amazed me is that they DO NOT show how breezy or cold was for all... I was wearing a jacket all the time and she was really cold !! can you believe that, take a look for yourself.

Now, do you see what I said? Those images look warm and cozy, but we were cold.

I think the day couldn't be better either, the weather was warm and nice (though the night before was a pretty big storm).

Jathan and Brianne Photos

Jathan and Brianne, children of a good friends of me and my wife, Jeff and Carmen, posed for me in my studio this last week, on Thursday. The session was a little bit challenging but went GREAT !. I think they were a little bit nervous, due to the new environment they were in, and probably because the lack of light as well ... because when I take photographs I tend to minimize the amount of ambient light (to avoid weird color casts on the photographs).

Well, I want to thank Carmen for bringing Jathan and Brianne to the studio for their photographs... we are working in a new promotion campaign and I most likely will use their photographs for it.

With nothing else to say, I will show you now some of the photographs I took.

Yonava Ishaku Children Portraits

Yesterday I had the beautiful opportunity of taking Yonava's portraits, a cute 2 years old little girl, in the studio... right before I close it (about 4 days before, right?). Well, everything went great during the session. Her mom, Charity was amazing as well, she did SO GREAT for keeping Yonava's attention and look closer to the camera.
Yonava was somehow shy at the beginning and full of energy towards the end; and that's natural. Most of the kids I take photographs by themselves are shy at the beginning, but while the session goes on, they feel more and more comfortable... and at the end of the session (some kids) don't want to leave the studio, because they are having too much fun... it's awesome !

Ricardelli .. a family with a big soul !!

I had the privilege to visit with a great family this last Friday, friends of mine who I took their wedding day several years ago. They contacted me to have their new-addition-to-the-family photographs, little Cianna plus their family photographs in their house... well, let me tell you that I had a great deal of fun talking with Shawn and Barbie and taking their photos.

I wanted to share some of the their photographs with you so you can comment your impressions. Thanks and take care.

Now, Once we did the family session, Makailah wanted some photographs as well for her own, so I did this session around their house as well.
Makailah did pose so natural and relaxed for her photographs... she did a great job !! and we had tons of fun as well.

As you already now, I am closing my current location of my studio... which means that I will not take "Studio photographs" at least through this winter-spring season.
My final operational day in the studio will be Saturday, September 19th; the following week will be the move-out time for me.

ANY SITTING WILL BE : $25 (for returning customers) or $30 (for new customers).
(Prices regularly starts at $65 / $75, but for these 9 more days prices will be $25 / $30)

Moving OUT ... !!

Well, It's a fact now... I am moving out of the Ben Lomond Hotel, where my studio used to be for three years !!.
It's sad to see that the pride of the people makes relations to stop.
About 2 weeks ago, my studio flooded by cause of an AC pipe leak (pretty heavy leak). It destroyed my projector and all my sample books for weddings and portraits... by the amount of $1500 aprox. which the owners of the Hotel won't take care or make themselves responsible to re-pay the damages done by their building.
With those issues and without any guarantees that that may happen again (and there were like 3 other leaks during that only month!!), I had decide to move out and start working and meeting my valuable customers back from my own house (as I did some years ago).
I wish not to move out... !! but I must , just because I don't want that to happen again. (Three times my studio had flooded in the past three years; two of which the "damages" were only a wet carpet and nothing else, so I didn't even report the damages, but the event alone.

Well, there are hardships that we need to pass in live and move on, right? That's exactly what I am doing now.

Now, for those of you that are around me, and waiting for their wedding book, portraits, etc. etc. Do NOT worry, because I am going to keep in business for a long, long time (at least those are my plans); AA PROFESSIONAL Photography will not close it's doors even if I don't have a studio. My office will be moved to my house, and my studio will be the outdoors.

If there is anybody who wants to give me any advice, I am open to listen anyone.

Vacations and Flooded Studio...!!!

It's amazing how fast life goes... !! has been one whole month already since the last time I post any entry in my blog.

Well, as always there is a lot to catch up, so I will write about the more recent events...

In my career are ups and downs, great times and sad times, successful moments and learning ones... Two weeks ago, I had a great time with my family; we went to Idaho and visited quite a few places and met new friends. Right after coming back from my family vacation and open my studio, last week, I found it TOTALLY FLOODED !!!
Could you believe it?

ALL my wedding books, Albums, Signing books, Bridal books, etc. etc. are all destroyed !! (actually I am posting some of the photographs I took of that sad event). Now, beside all that, my DLP TV-PC Projector, my computer keyboard and mouse were also affected to the point of "no return", the rags on the floor, some frames and some sample prints.

It was like a movie... you see something that you feel it's not you, (but at the end you are the only one suffering the damages).

I had to move to a temporary location (inside the same hotel where my studio is and has been for the past three years).

Now, I am posting first of all (and I feel bad that I haven't mention anything significant of my family vacation trip, but I am really happy we did it !!. I have the best family ever !!!.
Here are some of the photographs I took from my beautiful vacation and after that some of the flooded areas in my studio and some damages : ( ... I hope you enjoy them too.

Here is an experiment I did... this is a 30 seconds-long Infra Red photograph of the swimming pool with the slides, diving boards and platform in the back that we were for a full day. Even you see no people, there were close to 200 around there, even walking in front of the camera... cool, eh? Look at the trees... all white (though they are all green in reality).

After a full day (more than 10 hours) spent in the swimming pools, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset clouds as we were walking to our car.

This is the area where we spent several nights... really close to this river; you can see the travel trailer in the top right corner of this photograph where we slept.

Up in Soda Springs, ID. there is this geyser... it was really cool (I mean the water was really cool... "cold")... but 2 minutes later you could see all my kids under the showers of the geyser !! Even my wife with Nicole got some drops.

From the geyser an ever flowing cold water made it's way through the lime-rock... a nice refresher in the heat of the summer's sun for my whole family; in fact, if you could see us all, we didn't leave the water a lone.
My family is really great... and I love having all girls !!.

In this photograph at Bear Lake, UT. my family is posing all beautiful !!... And I know that the light is from the sun and a bit harsh, but I didn't have the energy to pack all my studio lighting gear for an environmental family portrait session... remember, I am in my vacation time!.
We went there twice and the breeze of the afternoon cool us down enough to the point that I barely went in to the water for about 20 minutes total (the water was a bit cold too). Though, my daughters bathe like dolphins almost through the whole time there.

In one of those nights, while camping, Nicole (our 5 months old baby) woke up and I did take care of her (you know... one of those rare nights when I help Silvia, my wife !!), and right after I put her back to sleep, I realized that morning was breaking, so I took my camera and went outside and had a photographic feast !. I really had a super good time ... helping my wife with my baby Nicole, of course.

That same day, Andrea, Gabriela and I went horse back riding up in the mountains of Logan canyon... it was an experience super special for my two older daughters... it actually was the first time ever riding horses all by themselves (nobody pulling their horses).

This photograph I took while visiting twilight... one of those before-sunrise-time mornings that I went out to meditate and think more clearly about things (and of course I take my camera with me ... so I can think better ... I guess).

NOW comes some of the photographs I took when I found my studio wet.

Water can be great for adventure and in the summer time, but when it goes inside your studio and ruin your stuff ... it sucks!!

Well, there are lessons to be learn every where, right?
I have learned a good lesson myself... "NOT TO GO ON VACATION AGAIN" !!

Funny Expressions...!!

Here is a new experiment... a reversed situation... something that I thought while in my desk working some papers out; With some images of past customers in front of my desk I started to ponder in the feelings of my customers when they are in-front of my lens, with all those lights a few inches of their faces, while everything in black outside that lighted "sphere"... And while pondering I got a new light pattern that I need to mastered and work to perfection... So, I prepared the lights and the camera and took my own photographs; a series of photographs that I liked at the end, something a little bit different than normal, something that I could probably use for my potential acting customer's portfolios.

In any way (even if I don't ever use that as a new idea) here they are, my own photographs in a different way.I would of never thought in posting anything like it to any customer, or even less possible for any potential customer, but I wanted for every one out there to know me a I actually am... you can judge that.

After my thoughts and the session, I came to realize that it's no hard time at all being in front of my camera, and those lights are not THAT bright any way. So I had a really good time and actually I had fun.
I understand that the experience (with other photographers) could be stressing, and even disastrous, but is a good thing that I Guaranteed a great time for EVERY Person stepping in my studio (that sounded like an advertising)... even to a shy or reserved person.

A new season !!

Here I am again… this time I am writing because I have quite a few things to comment… and of course I have photos to show.

Has been a wonderful season (so far) and I’ve been pretty busy with customers weddings, portraits, business, etc. etc. But what I want to share this day is a little bit different stuff… a more personal stuff (leaving into the side all the business stuff).

I don’t know how many people out in the web is reading what I am writing, more than looking at my photographs, but in any case I want to comment this (among other things): I am studying the masters in photography and feel really good that the quality of my photography doesn’t differ that much from their perspectives of work. To prove that I am showing here below the result of my last daughter photo session in the studio about 2 weeks ago.

As you saw, I’ve done a beautiful job... right? And that is not just because my wife and daughter are super beautiful, but because the lighting, posing and the usage of props were placed in the proper composition, angles and proportions.

Passing to a different subject, I do love being outdoors and enjoying myself, along with my family and/or friends.

This past month, I’ve been camping some, and planning some other different activities. Some of this activities had been working with the Young Men in my stake (for the LDS church). We went in a 100 miles trip in three days. It was a really nice time, and when you see the images below, you will realize that I had a really good time.

A busy season

Ok, it has been another one full month without any entry in my blog !!! Can you believe it? It has been a really busy and productive May... and since my last entry there have been lots of things and beautiful events that I should of post here, along with hundreds of photographs. As a matter of fact I am posting one more image right now that I took this last Friday out of a wedding... a beautiful wedding up in Wolf Creek Resort in Eden, UT.

Soon, after this season passes I will be able to post more and past weddings from May, including those Bridal sessions and Engagements. But in the mean time I'll post these few ones.

Almost a month later ...

Almost a month later (from my last entry) I am here again... feeling sorry (once more !!!) after my long time absent around my blog. But I am back!!! Yes, Once again I am here. he, he, he.

Well, there are way too many things for my to re-cap in some short lines (short enough so you will read it), right? I did have Bridal sessions, Engagements, High School Senior Portraits, Graduations, Children, etc. etc. But the best of all the things had happened to me recently is : My Birthday !!! Well, yesterday... but still, My Birthday!! May 01st. I had had a really great time with my family, just my family !! It was COOL!!.

Now, I want to mention really fast something a little bit different that I heard in a movie, a phrase that got stucked in my mind for a while : "Luck is when Preparation meets Opportunity" Well, I like it, and has placed some personal thoutghs under an interesting perspective; Preparation is what we are doing every day or at least what we should be doing all the time (using our time to be a better self, conquering our passions and learning better our talents). And even we can find our best Opportunities, sometimes we are found ... you see, technically Luck is not existent at all, it's just the junction between being well prepared to face those opportunities that are presented in front of us. I call it being at the right place at the right time... right?

Now, I want to show you some of the photographs that I've been taking lately... let me know what do you think about them.

There were quite a few Bridal sessions that I did but they wanted me to keep them hidden, just because the brides didn't want their fiances to see them in their wedding gowns! So I promised them that I won't post their photographs until they get married

Now I want to add some of other photographs; those that I took in my last trip to New York City and Washington DC. Since I have ended with over 1500 great photographs, I want to share some with you every time I post anything in here.

I realized something new !!

This morning I was thinking ... (yeap, I can think too), that I don't have to wait until something big happens in my studio to write it down and post it... though, in my studio big things happen all the time, as well as in my family.

For example, since my last post, my brand new baby daughter has turn One (1) Month old !!, can you believe that?, One month old

Another example is that during this time I had over 10 different photo sessions in varied locations and weather conditions (as the photographs below will show you).

General Conference was amazing as well as my stake conference (which happend one week after General Conf.).

a Bunch of Things Going on

Hey, has been a while, right?.
In my defense, I've been trying to catch up with my accumulated work.

I had had an amazing group of experiences that I probably won't be able to expound as much as want (because of time), but I want at least to mention them to you, so you can become somehow participants of my joy, as well.

First of all, my daughter, NICOLE CRISTINA has born about 2 weeks ago, on March 22nd 2009. She is, along my three other daughters and my wife, the most beautiful baby in the universe. She is really good and sleeps GREAT!!. We just need to weak up twice every night.
My wife is doing great as well, and her recuperation is almost over.
Our other 3 daughters are fascinated with the new arrival as well.
Here I am posting some of the photographs that I took in the hospital.

Secondly, I want to mention that my current customers are as amazing as my past customers... I've been shooting great photographs (because of them) and I am keeping my artistic view as current as my customers allow me.

And lastly, From my trip to New York (three - four weeks ago) I am posting some of the photographs that I love, so you can enjoy them as well.

These are diverse photographs that I took mainly in the Financial District (close and around Ground Zero)... as a matter of fact you can see Wall street, Brooklin Bridge, and some iconic images of basketball player at sunset, etc.

I am back !!!

Hey !!! I am BACK !!!!. It took me a little while to catch up most of my work (and even now, I am not done yet, but I could not wait any longer).

The trip to New York City and Washington DC was super amazing... especially because I saw my sister Danella, Ervic and their family and one of my brothers, Alonso.
I know that time flies and probably I won't be able to tell you all my experiences while I was there, but I think it's enough to say that I couldn't ask for better hosts, my siblings are the best in the entire world!!. I love them a lot... to all of them!!

Now that I am back, I can do, once more, my job... taking photographs!!! Capturing important moments in the life of my customers!! I feel super blessed to become an important part in the life of my friends (regularly called "customers"). This is the case of this family that I took photographs yesterday; this is a beautiful couple that I did take their wedding day about 1 year and a half (including Bridals, Engagements, Family session (twice) and more). Yesterday I took photographs of their first baby girl: Hallie. It was a great experience for me... Thanks Jeremy and Rachell, I had a really good time.

The day before (the 18th of March) I went out and took some photographs to a almost married couple: an engagement session in the mountains. Burkell and Curt did a great job hiking and walking and hugging and kissing (which are important parts in my engagement sessions). We went into several locations around some mountains close to my studio; and we had a great time as well.

Well, I will be posting some of the photographs of my trip to the U.S. east coast little by little, but now I will post some of the photographs that I took yesterday and the day before. I hope you enjoyed them.

A new day in the east !

Hello to everybody. It's great to have computer access again. Though, I won't be able to write for long, since I have come to a different area... as a matter of fact I'm no longer in New York City but in Washington DC. I arrived yesterday night.

We are design to go out and visit the most "historical areas" (the National Mall) in the next 15 minutes, so in the mean time I want to upload some of the last images I took in the Manhattan area in NY.

From New York City with Love

Well, here I am again, and this time from the heart of New York !!, well, Actually I am residing in New Jersey, a bout 1 hour from New York City. As a matter of fact I already went two times to the "big apple" and spend some quality time with my camera... am I in Love or what?. Well, I have to confess that I love my camera A LOT!!.

Passing to a more adult-ish conversation, I want to tell you that I am having a blast here in the east of USA, and though I am most of the time away from a computer, I could have access to one and that's why I am going to add at least one image. I hope you like it.

Another thing I want to mention is that New York City is impressive... and I like it !. Though, as much as I liked it, and the possibilities are (probably) bigger around here, I still love my dear calm and tranquil Utah... probably because the moutains and its people.

Well, I leave you now with this image that I took one of these nights while I was hiking in the New Jersey border of the Hudson river, having a nice look of the Manhattan island. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I'm going to New York !!!

Well, that's the truth... I am going to New York City !!! and I am SOOOO excited !!. I'm going to see Danellita & Ervic, my sister, her husband and their family and staying in New Jersey for a week, and then I'm going to visit my brother Alonso in Washington D.C. and stay with him for 4 days... I think is going to be phenomenal !!!

Sadly I am traveling by myself, since this trip is not for just pleasure but for business (70% of it). My wife and kids will have the chance sooner than they expect to go to New York City and see their cousins and family.

The business that I am going for is really interesting, I am adding a new line of service to all my wedding customers (and others that may be interested as well), by bringing some specialties for Kitchens for brand new couples homes (and for the families and guesses who want to give some gifts to the new couples). This new line is a TOP of the LINE kitchen equipment, that are not just beautiful looking, but long lasting and super high quality products.

Well, enough with advertising... I am going to NEW YORK CITY !!!! can you imaging? the dream of all my life as a photographer !!!. I'll bring some hundreds of photographs of my entire trip. As a matter of fact, I think I will have to post them in several different posts... well, we will see. I won't have a computer with Internet access, so I think I won't be able to post anything while I'm there, but I'll have my phone with me so my family and any of my friends, (all my customers) want to call me while there).

Now, I am adding some photographs from Ogden city, that I took some days or weeks ago. These photographs are part of a self-project about the "still standing" old structures in my home town: Ogden. Enjoy them and comment on them as well.

Well... this image is the Municipal cementery in Ogden (obviously enough). Though the interesting point that I am making in this photograph is the age of these small edifications... probably the oldest in the whole Ogden area... even older than any other building around.

This building is the first LDS chapel constructed in Ogden; I believe was erected back in 1910 or so... and as a matter of fact this building is 100% functional, serving for 3 different wards and LDS branches.

This is the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in downtown Ogden in a cloudy day after a snow storm. Again, this building was erected back in 1910's or so and is fully operational. And this building is one of my most popular areas where I go to take wedding photographs, since there are more than a few weddings there in the summer.

This building has being constructed (I believe) back in the later part of 1800's and currently serves as the Municipal building for Ogden City, where the mayor's office is. As a matter of fact, my studio is exactly in front of this marvelous construction... in front of the mayor avenue in Ogden, the Washington Boulevard. This photograph was taken during a snow falling afternoon.

10 Years Anniversary !!!!

Hello everybody... I want to tell you that TODAY is one of the MOST IMPORTANT days of my life !!! Today is a GREAT MILE-STONE in my life !! Can you believe? I am 10 years married !! I have the MOST exquisite Girl in the entire planet !!! My Silvia is my entire world !! Did you all know that? Well if you didn't, now you know.

10 years ago, I got sealed in the Lima, Peru LDS Temple and since then I've been happily married. We have 3 beautiful daughters with us and one other daughter in the way... yeap! she is being born in the last weeks of March this year and we are so anxious to have her with us. My Silvia is currently pregnant and she has 7.5 month in her pregnancy.

And since we have small children at home we are not planning a big social event, but enjoy this milestone to ourselves and make each other as happy as possible... the same way we've been doing it for the last 10 years.

One thing you all need to know is that as every couple in the planet, we had our differences and some times not so pleasant situations; but as few couples in the world know, we try our best to manage those situations and we try as hard as possible to make everything as smooth as possible; at the same time we are always trying to be calm at home and do things that please the other... you know, making family and couple's life. And one last thing: I would never change my family life and marriage for anything.

Now, I want to share this time some of our last family photo session images for you to see and enjoy my entire family and to have some fun with us. This session was about a month ago in my studio, by me. Let me know if you have any feedback.

Hello to all of you once more; it’s always fun to be in touch like this.

Let me tell you, in my profession as photographer I have great experiences and opportunities that put me to think a lot …well, today was once of those days that put me to think that everything in my career goes really good, and life is super good !! About a week ago I received a phone call from a some-time-ago customer, a girl who I did her Engagements, Bridals and Wedding day about 4 years ago, Her name is Hailye Higgins, married to Zack Lewis. Well, she wanted some photographs done for her biography for her job.
This morning we met in my studio… well, let me tell you, she did look amazing. She is one of the best reporters in Idaho for “abc” affiliate channel 8 and I am so happy and excited to be her photographer; and now she is the reporter that has the best photograph in the biography page in the whole state… (I made that sure).
I am posting a couple of her photographs for you to look at them and I am sure you will agree with me.

Beside the great experiences I have with most of my customers, I have another set of great experiences in a different aspect of my career; this last week after a nice storm I went into a higher elevation area and took some of this sunset scenes. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Air Fair Fun

Ok, I hope everyone of you had a great weekend... well, let me tell you, I had a super weekend myself; I spend all day long with my wife and children doing fun stuff and visiting my brother and his family. Yeap, totally relaxed and family oriented weekend.

Now, I was wondering about what photographs I could share with all of you this week, and since I just had Bridal sessions (and all of my brides requested PRIVACY) I will not post any of them here today, but after they get married.

I found an activity I did for my photography, where a friend of mine, Matt and I went to fly in his Cessna plane about a month ago... I had found that experience fascinating, and worth of taking a closer look of those photographs.

We are planning to go again some time during this winter, so we can have more photographs from some other areas from the air; but, we will see if we can do it again.

In the mean time I want to share this images with you, and I'll explain what were we doing when I took them... so seat back and relax because you are now going to experience a nice ... experience.

This is the plane that Matt has... is a two passenger (as you are going to realize from other photographs).

This is my friend, Matt, coming out from the plane,while making sure that everything is perfect for flying. Those clouds in the sky that you see are leaving the area, so we had a beautiful sunset for our photographs. He is a pilot by profession and a photographer by heart.

Now, this shot shows, once we were in the air (as you can see it too) I turn around my seat and this is what I saw... there was nothing else behind me !!! The plane was small and all shaky, but sturdy enough to take us around and back with safety.

Ok, This is Matt, the owner of the plane, amateur photographer and excellent pilot. I took his silouhette agains the sunsetting sun behind the mountain in the corner of his window. We had the mountain in front of us while we were cruising the air... to be honest with you ... it was a breath taking experinece; it was my first time flying in a Cessna and, even though I was a little aprehensive at first, a few minutes after I was all enjoying it.
And as the last image I will share in this part of my blog, I want you to see ME !!! he, he, he; here I am with Matt in the cockpit trying to have a shot of both of us. I think it turned out good enough. I am wearing the head phones that we use to communicate to each other and to listen the air control tower.

Bridal Fair

Well, I made it through !! I survived the Bridal Fair this last weekend. And let me tell you, it went really good.
I had taken some photographs of the event, which included some fashion shows, and several contests (eating a wedding cake, trivia questions, newly weds and others for example) and of my small (quick-made) booth.

An Engagement and Bridal Fair

OK, Here I am in this new year. And as I mention before (at least I think I mentioned it) I feel really good about this year (there are far more individualistic reasons beside political inclinations); but now, that I mention something about "political" it's enough to say that I liked this last inauguration... it was truly historical.

Ok, ok, ok. I will stop talking about government and I will start talking pictures !!!.
On Wednesday I did a nice ... a very, very nice engagement session, to a couple who thinks "out of the box". and you know what ... I LOVED IT !! They came to me some months ago and asked me for a a session that show better their Gothic look, and so I agreed to do so, since I've been working with models and artist I new how to create the look they wanted, BUT I was worried because I didn't think they would know how to "act" in front of the camera... Well, let me tell you, they did it amazing !!!. The photographs are below and you will see what I'm talking about.

Thanks Angela and Matt for your amazing input in the session !!!.

The other thing I will mention today is about TODAY'S!!! It is the first Bridal Fair in Ogden and I am READY!!!. There is this New product that I am featuring, is the Multi-Images Large Panels. I am displaying 2 big samples in a new cool way, that you have to be there to see !! (I will post some images by Monday or Tuesday so you can see it from here).

Well, I am expecting to talk to over 50 Brides, and from there Schedule at least 5 Weddings in the show. And after the gathering, I expect to be visited by at least other 30 Brides in the studio in the next month or so to explain more about our products and ways to do things, and from there book at least 10 more weddings.

With the economy as it is I know is hard to project nice things, but with a little push in sales methods and business ideas, I know that we all can make a better year.

Well, I better show you the photographs, so you can see what I told you earlier.

My latest Family Photo

Well, about a couple days ago (on the 2nd of January to be exact) I took my family to the studio and did a family portrait session, so we can send some photographs to our relatives throughout the world... literally throughout the world.

The session was amazing and we ended up with more than 400 photographs... ALL of them were beautiful (no just because I did take care of some details while the session, but mainly because my family is the most beautiful people I've ever known in the whole wide world), and now my wife and I have the greatest task (and super difficult task) of choosing what images will be sent to our families ... we want to send them all !!!. Now I can understand you (my customers) better when you have to choose your images... you want to keep them ALL because you love so so so much your family.

I wanted to share it with you so you all can meet, in one group, all my family... who, by the way, I love with all my heart.

I hope you enjoy it as much I do it.

Happy New Year !!!

Here we are... in a brand new year: this time is the 2009 !!!. What I am hoping from this year is as follow:
1.- This year is going to be GREAT !!!. You know why? Is because I had plan GREAT Things to happen:
- The born of my new baby girl (the fourth in my family).
- Quite a few camping trips with my family.
- Keep shooting my camera for my studio's customers, my family and for myself .
- Keep meeting great people: my customers, vendors and related venues.

2.- Financially this year is going to be better than 2008, because:
- I've been working a savings plan that if the economy in the country does not stabilize on its own, I could work it out, for my family.
- I just updated my web site and more people will learn from my site and more people will consult their weddings and portraits with me and my company... now, I am hoping for more people to hire me after they learn about my photography.

3.- The love in my family will be increased, because I had made arrangements for that to happen, following a great life style that will lift us all up, higher and higher.

You see? I know this new year is going to be great... because I had set my goals up, wrote them down and plan all the way. Beside, I know that even after the trials and the normal sufferings in life, the will of my Father is the same one as mine: He wants me to be SUPER HAPPY !!!.

HAPPY NEW YEAR for EVERYONE of You !!!!!

Merry Christmas !!!!

Well, I hope everybody had a GREAT Christmas and a wonderful time around your own loved ones.
My family and I stayed at home and had Christmas with my mother (who lives we us) and we brought my grandparents home. It was magical, because many reasons:
- My daughters (the 3 of them) were as happy as no one, and even the "tiny" one, though she didn't realize much what was going on, but she was contagiously happy by her sisters.
- We remembered the real reason on my brother to come: The Infinite Atonement Sacrifice of Jesus Christ when He was on the earth. We watched a movie ("Joy to the Earth") and read the story of His birth once more.
- After that, we proceeded to open some small presents.
- At the end of the day we went to my brother's home and visit with them until close to 10 pm.

I haven't downloaded any of the pictures we took on Christmas day, yet, but I hope I'll do it today... sometime today.
Tell me how did you have your Christmas, Hanuka or special holiday season, and I will be publishing it (if you agree to that) here on my blog.

New WEB site

OK, people, I feel really bad ... AGAIN !!. I haven't been able to do my regular communication with you through my Blog. I didn't write in it for the last month and a half.
Now, my excuse is that I have been working in my new Web site !! YES!!! A NEW ONE !!! This new site is launching this coming NEW YEAR'S EVE. It's almost completed and ready, but I still need to finish some minor details.

Thanks for keep coming and visiting with my work and my own personal thoughts. I really appreciate it.

My company is pretty slow now, so I can write some more. I know though, that it will pick up when the holidays are over; so if I don't write that often here, you know the real reason.

Some thoughts and photos

Hello again to all of you that have been waiting for about 3 weeks to have something posted... specially all of you who want to see your photographs, for the fun of it, posted in my blog.

Lately, I've been chewing in my mind some thoughts, about things that bugs me, but at the same time, affects me and my family; these thoughts are about the things are happening around the globe: the U.S. economy is not good (at least for a while), the problems around the world are increasing, specially with wars, hunger, natural disasters, violence and the abuse of the word "freedom". The problems seems to be increasing in all general areas... right? At least is what I see, and most of the people are realizing.

My thought is : Is there something... anything, that I personally, can do to help and alleviate these issues? Can I help in any way? The answer I came up with is : YES !!. For example:
- Teaching my kids to be, not just good, but GREAT. But, not just with my words but with my own EXAMPLE. (If I am great in character, honesty, temper, deeds, etc. I know, my own kids will follow that example better through their growing age).
That's what I've been thinking lately... THANKS for READING THAT !!!.

Now, I want to show you some of the photographs I've been taking these past weeks... and I want to say that I love every single one of my customers; they have been amazing and we had tons of fun during the sessions. As part of these, I want to mention as well that I have had several Bridal sessions, but I am not showing them here, becuase these brides don't want their fiances to look at them with the wedding gown before the big day. And, of course, I want to show you a tons of photos, but I don't want to over-load the server of my blog.

Wedding in Wendover, NV...!!!

HI everybody, here we go again, with a nice and busy weekend. This last Saturday was the combination of one Bridal Fair in Ogden, UT and a Wedding out in Nevada (2 hours of nice driving in the desert).

Well, let me begin with that morning (Saturday September 13th 2008) I set up the booth at 7:00 am and I was ready by 9:30 am... I was lucky the Bridal Fair didn't start until 10:00 am. The venue went as a regular Fair: people coming and going, though, I talked with great people moms and girls who are planning weddings.

The afternoon was even more excited; my wife trade my spot so I could go to my wedding. It didn't start until 4:00 pm, but the 2 hours drive up there and the getting ready for my wedding forced me to leave the show at 12:30 pm.

The wedding went beautifly and smooth. I had a great time there and Stephanie and Chaz (the Bride and Groom) were amazing. We had time for the Getting ready of the Bride and groom, the Ceremony, followed by the Family and Wedding Party photographs around the casino "Nugget" in Wendover, NV. The reception didn't start until 7:00 pm and it was a great party time.

I want now to show you some of the photographs I took this last Saturday. I hope you will enjoy them as much as the other photographs I took and showed you before.

An amazing week !!!

This last week, I probably could say, has been one of the most busy and significant of the weeks in the season (so far); I've been in weddings during the weekend (Thursday and Friday), and at the same time I've been taking Portraits to families and individuals mostly outdoors (though, my studio has seeing some customers of mine as well); but the most significant experience my wife, I and my whole family had had is the baptism of my twin daughters, Andrea and Gabriela this last Saturday, into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

These has been the crown experience for us in this season (Sept. 06th 2008). We feel that our Heavenly Father (God) has been blessing us abundantly in our lives and, even the economy as it is, and the house-market crisis, and the lack of jobs out there and unemployment rates, and everything as you know, we feel that, so far, we have been protected against all of that ... well, at least part of it.

Beside those GREAT news, I have an announcement to make to everybody !!!! My wife, Silvia, IS PREGNANT AGAIN..!!! Yahooooo !!!. We knew this about 5 weeks ago, but we didn't want to let anybody know, until after our daughters baptism. She is already 10 weeks pregnant and we are so, so, so excited about it. We are as happy as a kid in Lagoon, right? I think so, and even more than that. This new baby is our fourth kid in our family and all of us are so happy.

I just want to say, to all of my dear customers that I've been with lately, that I had a great time and has been fun working with you (and I know will be as well and always better in the future); there are times that we all laugh and share as we would known each other for years, and there are other times that we work amazingly close as we were great friends... and we truly are.

Thanks for those great times. I want to share some of the photographs I've been taking lately, today, though, I probably won't be able to show all what I've been doing, but at least some of it.

Jacy Winner Bridals

Well, I had the privilege of taking the Bridal Photographs of another great customer. Her name is Jacy Winner. On Tuesday morning we planned to meet and take the trip for the location we had previously decided. The day was sunny and beautiful, but breeze and some cold... Jacy managed it perfectly; she was so great that as soon as we start the session, we totally forgot about the temperature and just had lots of fun.

She was assisted but her great husband Warren, he helped a lot to both, his wife Jacy and me, doing some stuff with my lights and lenses.

Karlee Field Bridals

Well... another day, and another beautiful Bride Portraits shoot; her name is Karlee Field, and as well as another brides, Karlee has requested Privacy for publishing her Bridal Images in the Web site (at least not before their wedding day), and I will respect that 100%. But I want to mention something else about Karlee; yesterday, in the morning, I've seen something that I love: Karlee came not alone, but with some family members, sister, sister in law and mom... having that help and support, I think, is GREAT. I personally think and feel that the support and help from family members is the greatest in the world... and it was really fun, we had a great time and we spent almost 2 hours for the session (none of us wanted to finish the session).

Maria & Jeoffry Wedding

Here it comes, this last weekend I had the priviledge of taking the photographs of the wedding of a friend of mine, Maria who I knew from a Portrait session for her Business Card, long time ago (by the way, she is one of the best real estate agents around).

Well, this wedding was amazing (and this is another reason why I love my job, because I do a REALLY variety work every time, different locations, different things every time). The people was really self-entertaining, relaxed and way happy; beside, the house, acomodations, food, amenities, etc. were exquisite.

I got to know Jeoffry on that day, (and yes, his name is spelled differently); His is amazing as well, he has a passion for sailing, which passion transfered already to Maria.

A Wedding thought

Well, In the last couple of days I've been working mostly from my office, doing some "office" related stuff... you know, paper work, taxes, contracts and more "fun" stuff. But in between those "activities", I had the privilege of working with one young bride, (whose photographs I'm NOT going to post, since she doesn't want her fiancé to see her on her wedding gown before the wedding day), a girl who is really excited about her wedding day, a girl who taught me a really nice lesson, or I better say that she reminded me about something really important.

The lesson that this young bride made me realized is that the Wedding day should be a beautiful, loving and relaxed day; a day where the bride and groom are getting united for at least this life, which is going to be at least for 50 years or more. Some other couples are getting married for this life and even for the eternities. What a beautiful day when that is happening. But, the "wedding industry" has turned this beautiful moment: The marriage of a loving couple, into a time where everything is money and a really stressed time for the couple and their families... and as a matter of fact, after asking some of my former customers and even family members, the answer I got is that the main memory they have from their wedding day is the stress they had; and secondly, is the love and fun they felt.

I don't deny the fact that everything cost, and there are some things that cost even more than that, but the important lesson here is that the couples should be focusing on the covenants and promises they are making that day, because is going to last (at least) a whole life, and for some, even longer than that, instead of worrying about the flavor of the cake or the colors in the center pieces for the tables in the reception center... Don't get me wrong (specially the brides to be), I am a guy and I don't understand everything that girls do, but take a moment in your wedding planing, and put everything aside to breath and make this event a fun time for everybody around you... then, if everything is under control and everybody is happy, keep planing your wedding day as you were; otherwise, make the needed changes and keep planing it.

Jason Corless Senior Portraits

Yesterday morning one of my customers was a friend of mine, who asked me to take his high school senior portraits... it was a blast!. We spend a couple of hours in the session and we were everywhere: my studio of course, the Lobby of the hotel (where my studio is situated) and then we went out in the streets around downtown Ogden. We concentrated our efforts in close portraits rather enviromental portraiture.

Camping Weekend

Imagine this: camping with your family in a beautiful location up in the mountains... well, that's what I did this last weekend: My wife, my kids and me (of course): Hiking, Mountain biking, horse back-riding, 4x4 wheeling, and tent sleeping... let me tell you, we had a great time. Even more being this our FIRST tent-camping as a family this summer...!!! We went just on Friday and Saturday, but it was a great relaxing time.

After many weekends of "hammering"... (I mean, shooting weddings), and perfect timing: 2 weeks before the start of the shool year. I really did need something like that.

The weather was perfect and even a wind-gusty night, we had it really good.

Yesterday's Kelsie & Brock Wedding

Well, as I told you yesterday, I went to Kelsie Adams and Brock Week Wedding, and you know what?, It was beautiful. The day itself was excellent (was hot) and my throat was as dry as ... something dry; but we had a great time. I met the videographer, Dustin, a great guy.

I'll show you some of the photographs now; but before that, today I am leaving out of town for the weekend, and as soon as Monday I'll show you some of the photographs that I will take there.

I have no words to describe how sorry I am, that I totally forsook my bloggers friends and my blog at all... so, I am not going to write how I feel about that (but you kind of know how I am feeling today about that).

What I am going to write today is that I have a wedding !!!. I love weddings !!!... specially when I am the photographer. Every week, since summer has started I've been shooting weddings and my time has been blessed by customers who are coming in a regular basis.

One thing I want to express to all those who are reading (to those who believe in God and to those who doesn't): my family and my work are direct blessings in my life and I am so thankful for these.

I want to show now some of the last months Weddings, Engagements and Bridals I've been taking... and even Portraits. Enjoy them.

Life caught me again in the twister of time!!! and found myself with a really old Blog entree. I am sorry to all of you that have been reviewing my blog in the last month.

Let me tell you, there have been too many things to tell now in this last month (even almost two months). So what I will tell you is what happen to me this last week.

I had several photo sessions including High School Senior Portraits, Bridals, Quinceañeras, Real Estate Business Portraits and more (just this week !)

One thing I want you all to know is that I believe in Continuous Education and I always try to keep up with the current trends and qualities for my customers, specially the younger ones. So, that's why this last Thursday night I had the privilege to attend a seminar of one of the best "marketer and seller" photographer in the country, his name is Bruce Hudson. He was amazing in his lecture as well as his son Josh. I had learn A LOT that will benefit my studio as well as my customers. I will be able to provide a better service and better products. Thanks Bruce and Josh for this opportunity.

First Bridal Fair in 2008

Well, I'm really excited today...!!!! In Ogden, inside the Union Station building there is going to be the first Bridal Fair of the year and it promises to be huge. (the address is Wall Ave. 2500 S. in Ogden... exactly a three blocks from my Studio-office)

I had prepared hundreds of flyers, postcards, price lists and more for all the Brides to grab. I will show my Wall Classic-Portraits, edggy Bridal Enlargements and several contemporary Wedding Books; beside that I'll give and amazing offer for this weekend ONLY.

Models for "SuperFly Open"

Hi to all. It's great to be here again.

Yesterday night I had a really energetic model shoot for a Company whose owner is a friend of mine: Les Viera (his web site is : http://www.superflyopen.com/ and he has some videos to share about this exciting new sport). There is a great event coming this February 08th and 09th 2008 (the 10th as well but I don't work on Sundays). The Grand opening of the event it’s going to be in Rumors Lounge in the Ben Lomond Hotel the 08th , and the 09th it’s going to be in Ogden Powder Mountain in Ogden Valley pretty much all day long.

About the photo shoot, let me tell you that these three models worked really good; we all worked for over 5 hours and even we all were exhausted, we had a great time… it was phenomenal and I want to share some photographs from the session with all of you, so tell me what you think about them.

I know is a little bit late to do this but I want to wish you a very Happy, succesful and full of Great oportunities New Year. I have tons of photographs that I want to share with you, that I've been taking this couple of weeks but I have as well couple appointments in less than 5 minutes from now.

One more thing I want you to know is that I'm getting ready for several upcoming events, like the Bridal Fair coming in January 18th and 19th at the Union Station in Ogden (it promises to be the biggest one yet), and beside that I'm getting ready for the Sundance Film Festival which in part is going to be held here in Ogden, UT (beside SLC and Park City). I've been hire to be the official photographer for the Ogden Community Festival, and is starting the January 17th and ending the 29th or something like that (I'm getting the program today).
